
Yobe state governor, Mai Mala Buni, Wednesday, flagged off a training for 50 small scale entrepreneurs on soft skills development in Damaturu, organised by Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, Governor Buni said his administration has made empowerment of the youth and women as its cardinal priority.
Buni noted that the event was designed as a train-the-trainer workshop for 50 participants in 10-type small and medium scale businesses including furniture-making, catering, tailoring/fashion design, auto technicians, electronic technicians, food processing, poultry, aquaculture, animal husbandry and building industry.
“At the end of the training, participants are expected to be well trained and each capable of training one person and continuously for the knowledge acquired to spread among the existing small and medium enterprises in the form of revolving cycle of train-the-trainers programme for increased productivity and wealth creation in the State,” Governor Buni stated.
In his remarks, the Director General/CEO of Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, Engineer Abubakar Gambo Umar said Yobe state was the first beneficiary of the meticulously designed training programme aimed at enhancing the quality and sustainability of existing businesses in the state.
