The five-foot-10, 185-pound Torchia led the league with over 1,321 minutes played and shared the league lead by appearing in 23 games while posting a 16-3-3 record. His 16 wins also tied for the league lead.

Torchia, who was also named a first-team all-star in the West Division, finished fourth in the OUA with a 2.04 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage in helping the Lancers reach No. 6 in the national rankings and earning a spot in Saturday’s Queen’s Cup final against No. 3 UQTR at the Capri Complex.

Teammate Anthony Stefano, who is a former Windsor Spitfire, was named a second-team all-star on Thursday. The 27-year-old Stefano finished tied for 10th in OUA scoring and topped the Lancers with nine goals and 27 points in 27 games.

Lancer women’s hockey

The University of Windsor Lancers women’s hockey team had two players earn major OUA awards and another join them in earning all-star recognition.

Villanova high school product Kristen Swiatoschik became the first Lancer ever named goaltender of the year. The LaSalle native finished seventh in the OUA with a goals-against average of 1.90 and was fourth with a .939 save percentage while picking up 13 wins in 20 games.

Teammate Keana McKibbin was named OUA rookie of the year. McKibbin finished third on the team in scoring with 12 goals and 18 points in 27 games.

Swiatoschik and Lancer forward Maggie Peterson were both named first-team OUA all-stars while McKibbin was named to the all-rookie team.

Huggins earns honour

Outside hitter Kiana Huggins became the first member of the St. Clair Saints women’s volleyball team to earn all-Canadian status since 1995.

The five-foot-nine Huggins was named a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association All-Canadian after averaging 3.3 points per set on 162 kills, 26 service aces and a pair of blocks to total 190 points in 16 matches this season. She was also named a OCAA West Division first-team all-star.
