Top 15 Bollywood movies’ highest opening day collections
Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra recorded the highest opening of 2022 with a collection of Rs 30.37 crore. The Ayan Mukerji directorial, a box office hit, earned over Rs 400 crore worldwide.
2. Drishyam 2
Fans of Ajay Devgn flocked back to theatres in large numbers this month to give Drishyam 2 the second-highest opening of 2022 with a collection of Rs 14.92 crore. The film crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in its first week at the box office.
3. Ram Setu
Akshay Kumar’s ‘Ram Setu’ had the third-highest opening of 2022 with a collection of Rs 14.81 crore. The film earned a total collection of Rs 70.83 crore.
4. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2
Kartik Aaryan began his 2022 box office run on a high with a collection of Rs 13.41 crore. The horror-comedy that came in 4th on the list of highest openers, went on to earn a total of Rs 181 crore.
5. Bachchhan Paandey
Akshay Kumar’s action-packed entertainer Bachchhan Paandey opened with an impressive collection of Rs 12.18 crore. However, after a wave of negative reviews, the film ended its run with a total of Rs 49 crore.
6. Laal Singh Chaddha
Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, which opened amidst much hype and controversy, recorded the 6th best opening of the year, with a total of Rs 11.58 crore. The film crashed out of the box office with a total of just Rs 59.58 crore.
7. Samrat Prithviraj
Akshay Kumar’s historical drama Samrat Prithviraj earned an estimated Rs 10.58 crore on its opening day. After receiving mixed reviews, the film bowed out with a total collection of Rs 68.06 crore.
8. Vikram Vedha
Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Vikram Vedha’ which was a remake of the Tamil film of the same name, opened with a collection of Rs 10.29 crore. The movie ended its box office run earning an estimated Rs 79.50 crore.
Although Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera performed poorly at the box office, it recorded a smashing opening day collection of Rs 9.81 crore.
10. Gangubai Kathiawadi
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, starring Alia Bhatt in the lead role, made a splash at the box office with a collection of Rs 9.62 crore. The movie was the first to cross the Rs 100 crore mark this year, earning an estimated Rs 126.32 crore.
11. Jugjugg Jeeyo
The Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani and Neetu Kapoor family entertainer Jugjugg Jeeyo missed a spot in the top 10 highest openers with a collection of Rs 8.41 crore. The movie earned an estimated total of Rs 78.03 crore.
12. Raksha Bandhan
Keeping up with the festive theme of Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar launched his film which opened with a collection of Rs 8.2 crore at the box office. The movie ended its box office run with an estimated collection of Rs 45 crore.
13. Thank God
Although mired in controversy, Ajay Devgn’s ‘Thank God, recorded the 13th-best opening of 2022 with a collection of Rs 7.38 crore. It ended its box office run with a collection of Rs 32.62 crore.
Varun Dhawan’s supernatural flick ‘Bhediya’ missed a spot on the Top 10 highest openings of 2022 and came in 14th with a collection of Rs 6.75 crore.
15. Ek Villain Returns
Rounding off this list is director Mohit Suri’s action thriller, Ek Villain Returns which earned Rs 6.71 crore. The film starring Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham, Tara Sutaria and Disha Patani went on to earn an estimated total of Rs 60 crore at the box office.
