NPR to lay off 10 percent of its workforce ‘even as general economy seems on mend’

As Twitchy has reported, Vice President Kamala Harris explained Wednesday why, thanks to the Biden administration, “folks have more money in their pocket to buy things” and take vacations. Harris and President Biden have been telling us since 2021 that the economy is doing great, but even that isn’t enough to save about 10 percent of the jobs at NPR.

News: NPR to lay off about 10 percent of its workforce.

CEO John Lansing says ad revenue for podcasting shriveled even as general economy seems on mend.

He promises NPR will build on its mission and values but adds, “”This will be a major loss.”

David Folkenflik is NPR’s Brian Stelter; he even clutched his pearls when Fox News reported on Stelter’s poor ratings. Why, it seems like it was just a couple of months ago that Folkenflik was giving us the sad news of layoffs at NPR:

Journalism twitter is rough today. Serious cuts at NPR… threat of walkout at NYT… and people announcing their own layoffs at CNN and Gannett.

Be good to yourselves and each other, people.

Remember when Twitter 1.0 would suspend you for posting “learn to code” in reply to a journalist? We’re pretty sure on Twitter 2.0 you can say “learn to build solar panels.”

90 percent to go

Maybe 24/7 victims and race baiting isn’t a good programming plan.

It has nothing to do with the fact that their podcasts mostly suck

Did NPR ever apologize for getting the Hunter Biden laptop story so wrong?

They need to be truthful to regain respect. Own your mistakes, no matter how painful.

It wasn’t a mistake, it was following orders- willingly.

They released a statement proudly saying they weren’t going to cover it because it was a “distraction.”

Not sure why I should care about NPR’s values. Their reporting shows daily how little they care about my values.

Remarkably, there are a lot of liberals in the replies who are saying NPR brought it on themselves by being so biased toward conservatives and that’s why they stopped pledging. NPR was out chasing those sweet right-wing dollars and look what it’s cost them.
