All roads leads to the hallowed chamber of the Lagos State House of Assembly in Alausa-Ikeja where the inauguration ceremony was held for held for members of the 10th Assembly which was held on the 6th June, 2023.
City People Correspondent, Nife Kazeem witnessed the historic event which has prominent personalities in attendant. It programmed outline featured the Arrival of the Governor, the recitation of National Anthem, Prayers, Welcome Address by the Clerk, Goodwill Message by the Governor, Proclamation by the Governor, and Confirmation of the Certificates of Return and Roll-Call by the Clerk.
The high point of the programme was the Election proper where the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker among others members were duly elected.
The Nomination of the 10th Assembly Speaker Race was done by Hon Temitope Adewale Member Ifako-Ijaye and while Hon. Ogunkelu Sylvester Danusi, Member Elect Epe2, Seconded the motion returning RT. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa as the speaker of the 10th Assembly, a position he now holds for 3 consecutive terms.
Hon. Desmond Olushola Elliot who represents Surulere 2 pushed for Hon Mojisola Laobat Miranda as the Newly Elect Deputy Speaker of the House when he raised a motion which was seconded by Hon Tijani Suraj.
At the end of the day, Hon Adams Noheem from Eti-Osa1 emerged the Majority Leader, Hon. Adedamola Kasunmu from Ikeja constituency 2 was elected as the Deputy Majority Leader while Hon. Nojeem Fatai from Ibeju-Lekki and Hon. Setonji David from Badagry as the Chief Whip and Deputy Chief Whip respectively.
Thereafter, other members elected into the house were sworn-in. Each of them took the Oaths of office which made them Lagos law maker.
Immediately Mr. Governor took his leave, the Hon. Speaker of the house, Mudasiru Obasa addressed the house during his inauguration speech. There he spoke on his commitment in making sure the 10th assembly work towards achieving the dreams and aspirations of Lagosians.
