Compared to Dell or Lenovo, HP usually has the best price on comparable configs. The base price of this OMEN laptop (equipped with an RTX 4060) is decent, but it gets a lot better if you upgrade the GPU to either a 4080 or 4090. You’ll have to also upgrade the display’s resolution from 1080p to 1440p, but that is recommended anyways. The RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 will give you true desktop-class gaming power in a laptop. The mobile RTX 4080 approaches a performance level similar to the desktop RTX 3070 Ti and the mobile RTX 4090 is comparable to a desktop RTX 3080.

This is the least expensive way to score an RTX 4070 equipped gaming laptop. Choose the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS CPU and RTX 4070 GPU and you’ll also have to upgrade the 4-cell battery to a 6-cell. The Ryzen 7 7840HS is a brand new AMD Phoenix series mobile CPU and it’s very good, on par with the newest Intel Core i7 processors. It’s a good pair with the RTX 4070, which is comparable to an RTX 3080.
