Blobfish Studios released the Early Access version of Brotato, its top-down roguelite shooter, back in September on Steam. After a successful run and being rated ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ PC, Brotato is expanding its player base with releases for Android and iOS.
Erabit Studios, previously known for 20 Minutes Till Dawn and Candy Disaster, will be taking over the proceedings for the mobile launch. Pre-registration has already kicked off and we can expect a global launch in the next few months. In fact, Android users can check Brotato out a little early as an open beta test went live recently. Nothing for iOS users, unfortunately.
Where does the name Brotato come from? Well, the in-game universe features a spaceship from a Potato World crashing onto an alien planet. The only survivor of this horrifying expedition is Brotato, the sole potato that is capable of handling six weapons simultaneously. He must fight his way through this hostile environment while waiting to be rescued by his buddies.
Players practically have an arsenal of all the weapons out there. From flamethrowers, to SMGs, rocket launches, or even sticks and stones, Brotato can employ them all. There are hundreds of items to make use of in waves of 20 to 90 seasons each. The auto-firing option makes things a little simpler. Multiple character options allow players to style their potato the way they want, too.
You can pre-register for Brotato by visiting either the App Store or Google Play. It is a premium title and can be purchased for $4.99 or your local equivalent. Additional information can be found on the game’s Steam page. If you’re looking to find a like-minded community of gamers then check out Brotato’s official subreddit as well.
