March 02, (THEWILL) – Arsenal cemented their position at the top of the English Premier League table with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over struggling Everton at the Emirates Stadium, on Wednesday night.
The Gunners, whose win sees them go five-point clear of the chasing defending champions, Manchester City, were initially slow out of the gates, but Bukayo Saka’s goal just before halftime set them on their way to an emphatic win.
Gabriel Martinelli doubled Arsenal’s lead with a goal on the stroke of halftime, while Martin Odegaard and Martinelli again found the back of the net in the second half to complete the scoring.
Despite a slow start, Arsenal showed clinical ruthlessness in front of goal that will have their title rivals on high alert. Everton, meanwhile, struggled to create chances and will be left with plenty to ponder as they prepare for a crucial fixture against fellow strugglers, Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal, on the other hand, will be full of confidence as they look ahead to their next league fixture against Bournemouth on Saturday. The win over the Toffees sees the Gunners become the first-ever side in the top flight to beat a side 100 times.
